Platts adds new US aluminum CME-basis all-in price to database, publications

Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, has started publishing a new daily US aluminum CME-basis all-in price, effective April 3, 2023.

The new calculated Aluminum US All-in (Basis CME) price combines Platts MW US Transaction Premium (MMAKE00) and COMEX's physically deliverable Aluminum (ALI) pricing (CMALI01) to calculate a daily all-in price.

Platts announced it would begin publishing the new calculated Aluminum US All-in (Basis CME) price in a note published on Feb. 21, 2023, available here.

The new all-in price, published in cents/lb and also converted to $/mt under the symbols below, will run alongside existing all-in calculations and provides market participants with an additional reference:

The calculation will be published in Platts Metals Daily, Platts Metals Week and Platts Metals Alert on fixed pages MTL 0413 and MTL 0650, in the Platts PricePoint database and on Platts Dimensions Pro.

Platts previously started publishing and databasing CME's Globex (ALI) Aluminum Futures settlements in November 2022 under the following symbols:
