Platts launches USAC Laurel Pipeline ULSD assessments from April 1

Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, has launched new assessments from April 1, 2024, for ultra low sulfur diesel loading onto Laurel Pipeline on the US Atlantic Coast, amid strong market interest.

Details of the new assessments are as follows:

Symbol Name Currency/UOM
ADDPA00 ULSD Laurel Pipeline Outright cents/gal
ADDPA03 ULSD Laurel Pipeline Outright MAvg cents/gal
ADDPB00 ULSD Laurel Pipeline Differential to NYMEX ULSD cents/gal
ADDPB03 ULSD Laurel Pipeline Differential to NYMEX ULSD MAvg cents/gal

The new assessments reflect a minimum volume of 25,000 barrels and a maximum volume of 75,000 barrels loading on an FOB basis into Laurel Pipeline at Boothwyn, Pennsylvania.

Similar to the existing Buckeye Pipeline assessment, the Laurel Pipeline assessments reflect ULSD loading three to seven days forward from the date of publication Monday to Wednesday, and five to nine days forward on Thursday and Friday.

The assessed date range will move further forward when pipeline scheduling is affected by holidays, and Platts will announce these changes prior to implementation.

Laurel ULSD is assessed both as an outright price and as a differential to the prompt NYMEX ULSD futures contract until the final business day of the month, when its basis month will roll forward.

Laurel Pipeline, owned and operated by Buckeye Partners, transports refined products from Altoona in eastern Pennsylvania westward to the Pittsburgh area. The new Laurel Pipeline assessments reflect specifications published by Buckeye Partners for grade 190 ULSD.

The new assessments appear in Platts US Marketscan, Oilgram Price Report, Platts Global Alert and Platts Refined Products Alert pages 154, 410, 411 and 481.

The decision to launch the new Laurel ULSD assessments was announced by Platts in a subscriber note published Feb. 29, 2024, available here.
