S&P Global Platts is restating the product specifications for its Europe MX CIF ARA assessment following a recent query on the non-aromatics content.
Product specifications for MX conform to the latest edition of ASTM D-843, with one or more isomers removed; the non-aromatics content is set at a maximum of 2%, while the maximum ethylbenzene content is at 20%. For the avoidance of doubt, these are absolute maximums: non-aromatics content above 2.0% and ethylbenzene content above 20.0% would be excluded from Platts assessments. There are no limits on metaxylene, paraxylene and orthoxylene content.
Further details can be found in the appendix of the Platts European Petrochemicals methodology guide, on page 35.
The guide is online at: https://www.platts.com/IM.Platts.Content/MethodologyReferences/MethodologySpe cs/petchemeuropemethodology.pdf
