About Commodity Insights

BIDS, OFFERS, TRADES: S&P Global Commodity Insights would like to clarify that it may publish petrochemicals bids, offers and indications to trade that include origin restrictions, where appropriate. S&P Global has observed that market participants are increasingly seeking to include restrictions, particularly relating to the provenance and ownership of material, its origin and/or transport logistics in their bids, offers and indications to trade. S&P Global makes no commitment to publish every bid or offer submitted to it, particularly if they are deemed to be unperformable or overly restrictive.
ASSESSMENTS: S&P Global European petrochemicals assessments remain open-origin. The assessments reflect merchantable material and S&P Global is continuously reviewing the merchantability of open-origin products in its Market on Close assessment process.
NORMALIZATION: Published bids, offers and trades that deviate from S&P Global standard may be subject to normalization to open-origin basis, and depending on the extent of the deviation, may not be fully reflected in the final assessment. Full description of the Platts assessment methodology can be found here: https://www.spglobal.com/commodity-insights/plattscontent/_assets/_files/en/our-methodology/methodology-specifications/platts-assessments-methodology-guide.pdf.
EWINDOW: For markets which use eWindow technology as a primary communication tool, such as MTBE and ETBE, Platts will publish bids, offers and trades with origin restrictions as manual headlines. Full description of the Petrochemicals timing and increment guidelines for manual window can be found here: https://www.spglobal.com/commodity-insights/en/our-methodology/methodology-specifications/petrochemicals/petrochemicals-timing-and-increment-guidelines.
ORIGIN PROOF: Documentation proving the origin of the material should not be unreasonably withheld.
