Platts discontinues CIF Marmara wheat (13.5%) coaster assessment

Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, has discontinued its CIF Marmara wheat (13.5%) coaster assessment (WDPMT00) and its corresponding monthly average (WDPMT03) effective March 19, 2025.

The discontinuation follows the suspension of the assessment on Feb. 24, 2022 following Russia's invasion of Ukraine, and a decline in interest for coasters of 13.5% protein wheat from buyers in the Sea of Marmara since then. Platts understands market participants typically refer to the price for 12.5% protein wheat coasters for any ongoing trade of 13.5% product.

Platts proposed this discontinuation on Dec. 6 in a subscriber note available here. Following a feedback period, Platts confirmed it would discontinue the assessment was published on Jan. 9 in a separate subscriber note available here.

Platts resumed publication of its CIF Marmara wheat 12.5% assessment (AMARA00) in August 2023, following a resumption of trade activity in that market. Details can be found here.
