Platts launches new European Renewable PPA Derived Hydrogen prices

Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, has launched a new set of Renewable Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) Derived Hydrogen prices for France, Germany, the Netherlands and Spain, effective March 18.

In the absence of market-based information Platts will utilize a model-based cost of production plus a premium, to reflect market value.

However, market information such as bids, offers, trades and indications will take precedence for assessments.

Incorporating Power Purchase Agreements will more closely align the prices listed below with EU regulations references to power sources used in the production of low carbon hydrogen as set out in the EU Delegated Act. Renewable-derived hydrogen is often referred to as "green" hydrogen.

The new assessments are published in following units: Eur/kg, Eur/kWh, US$/kg and US$/MMBtu.

They appear on Platts Connect and Platts Hydrogen Daily, complementing Platts existing suite of cost valuations.

Platts has launched these assessments for hydrogen produced from alkaline electrolysis, incorporating the cost of renewable PPAs, against the following symbols:
