Platts launches eWindow instruments for 7.8 and 7.3 RVP gasoline grades in Group 3

Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, has launched eWindow instruments for the 7.8 RVP and 7.3 RVP grades in Group 3 as differentials against front month NYMEX RBOB futures, effective March 14, ahead of the anticipated removal of an RVP waiver in eight Midwest states later this year.

The addition of the new eWindow instruments follows previously announced changes to Platts Midwest gasoline assessments resulting from the RVP waiver removal. Following extensive consultation with the market, the changes to the assessments were announced on Dec. 30, 2024, in a subscriber note available here. The launch of related new assessments were announced on Feb. 3, 2025, in a note found here.

The new eWindow instruments appear as follows:

Platts Gasoline Sub-Octane 7.8 RVP
Platts Gasoline Sub-Octane 7.3 RVP
Platts Gasoline A Grade 7.8 RVP
Platts Gasoline A Grade 7.3 RVP

The launch relates to eWindow instruments for the standard strip, for delivery the next working day.

Approved participants in the Platts Market on Close assessment process are able to submit bids or offers for publication directly through the eWindow communication tool or through an editor who would then publish the bids and offers using the software.

Platts editors will also be able to publish bids, offers, and expressions of interest to trade the Group 3 7.3 RVP or 7.8 RVP suboctane and unleaded 91 grades against the second NYMEX RBOB futures contract.

In addition, in the Chicago market reviewed market participants are able to submit bids, offers, and expressions of interest to trade West Shore and Badger 7.8 RVP CBOB and premium CBOB through a Platts editor who would then publish the information on their behalf.
