Platts assesses India I-RECs in US dollars, converting to local currencies

Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, has changed the methodology for its India I-REC assessments, effective March 13, 2025.

With this change, the India I-REC assessments are now assessed and published in US dollars. Platts also publishes a conversion of these assessments into local currencies (USD/INR) for wind and solar assessments, and both USD/INR and USD/EUR for hydro assessments.

This follows a proposal published on Jan. 20 and a decision published on Feb. 12 .

This change is intended to better reflect the fundamentals of the India I-REC markets, where transactions typically occur in US dollars, with conversion to local currencies applied as needed during settlement or payment.
