Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, has changed the methodology for its European hydrochloric acid assessments to reflect technical grade byproduct hydrochloric acid with an HCL content of 30%-33% for delivery via truck and rail, effective March 11.
The methodology previously stipulated that Platts assessed technical-grade materials produced as a byproduct during polyurethane production with an HCL content of 30%-33%, delivered by truck.
The change to the methodology was announced in a subscriber note published on Feb. 11 available here, following an initial proposal communicated on Jan. 28 in a note available here.
