SUBSCRIBER NOTE: Platts to publish weekly US and European EDC/VCM on Tuesday

S&P Global Platts has decided to publish EDC and VCM prices, commentaries and rationales in US and Europe every Tuesday, effective April 10, 2018, in a bid to bring the most up-to-date information to Polymerscan subscribers.

There will be no change in the publication schedule in Asia, where EDC/VCM prices, commentaries and rationales will continue to be published every Thursday.

As part of the move, and in order to streamline the coverage of the vinyls chain, Platts has decided to merge the European EDC/VCM commentary with the Tuesday chlor-alkali commentary, on page PC392 of the Petrochemical Alert. The new combined commentary will carry analysis of fundamentals of caustic soda, chlorine, EDC and VCM markets, and a separate rationale, explaining the logic behind the European assessments. Platts will discontinue the page PC1181, which currently carries the European EDC/VCM commentary.

The US EDC/VCM commentary, published on Petrochemical Alert page PC1548, will also be published on Tuesdays, but will remain separate from the chlor-alkali weekly commentaries.

The US and European EDC and VCM price assessments are currently published weekly every Thursday on the Platts Petrochemical Alert (PCA) pages PC0244, PC0182 and PC0181, in Platts Market Center and in the Polymerscan every Wednesday.
