S&P Global Platts is to launch a Battery Grade Cobalt Sulfate DDP China assessment on April 4, 2019
The launch of the assessment comes on the back of consistent and growing market demand for increased pricing information in the Chinese cobalt sulfate market and the battery metals market as a whole.
The assessment will have the following specifications:
- Quality: Minimum 20.5% cobalt content - Incoterm: Delivered Duty Paid - Unit: Yuan - Currency: Metric ton - Volume: Minimum one truckload - Timing: Delivery within 14 days - Payment Terms: Cash or Letter of Credit
All origins of cobalt sulfate meeting these specifications will be taken into consideration, but may be normalized back to Platts base standards.
In order to assess battery grade cobalt sulfate, Platts will collect a wide variety of transactional and market information through a survey of industry participants, which typically includes, but is not limited to, communicating with sources via phone, email and instant messaging.
The assessments will be published on Platts Metals Alert, page 8890 and in Metals Daily. The weekly cobalt sulfate DDP assessment will carry the code BATCS04, with BATCS03 for the monthly average and BATCS05 for the quarterly average.
Please submit any feedback, comments or questions about this decision to battery_metals@spglobal.com and pricegroup@spglobal.com.
