Platts proposes changes to Asian steel billet price assessments

S&P Global Platts is proposing a number of changes to its steel billet prices in Asia from May 1, 2020, to reflect changes to market conditions.

CFR SOUTHEAST ASIA: Platts is proposing to increase the frequency of the Billet CFR Southeast Asia (SB01035) assessment to daily from weekly on Fridays currently, in reflection of the increase in spot trading activity observed. Underlying specifications would remain unchanged. The assessment is published according to the Singapore holiday schedule.

EX-STOCK TANGSHAN: Platts is proposing to clarify the quality and quantity specifications of the Tangshan Billet (SB01032) price assessment as Q235 and 500 mt respectively. Platts is also proposing to change the publication schedule for the assessment to that following the China holiday schedule from the current Singapore holiday schedule, in line with the other China domestic steel assessments published.

The affected prices are published in Platts Steel Price Report, the fixed page PMA1215 of the Platts Metals Alert , Platts Price Analyzer and in the Platts Market Data category SQ (Metals: Steel Asia).
