Following a period of industry consultation and feedback, S&P Global Platts has decided to launch four new dry bulk freight assessments for Panamax and Supramax vessels from Samarinda in East Kalimantan, Indonesia, to Guangzhou in China's Guangdong province.
Platts will launch these assessments with effect from April 3, 2017.
These assessments were first proposed in a subscriber note published January 25, 2017 (http://www.platts.com/subscriber-notes-details/27757805).
The voyage charter and Time Charter Equivalent assessments will reflect the spot fixture activity on these routes basis 50,000 mt (plus/minus 10%) and 65,000 mt (plus/minus 10%) for meeting the thermal coal requirements of Chinese consumers.
The TCE assessments for Supramax and Panamax vessels will reflect $/day pricing derived from the respective voyage rates published by Platts on a $/mt basis.
The TCE will be calculated using bunker prices published by Platts.
The port charges, vessel speed and consumption used in the TCE calculation are arrived at by extensive market survey and reflect market practice.
All assessments will be basis loading and discharge on Sundays and holidays included per weather working day at both ends; sea margin of 5% and total commission at 5%.
The following are the new assessments:
1. PS24 Samarinda, Indonesia to Guangzhou, China, 50,000 mt (+/- 10%) in $/mt 2. PP44 Samarinda, Indonesia to Guangzhou, China, 65,000 mt (+/- 10%) in $/mt 3.
