February 29, 2024
Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, has changed the publishing schedule of the Platts JKM balance month-next day derivatives assessment, effective March 1, 2024.
Platts JKM balance month-next day derivatives assessment publishes from the first assessment day for a delivery month to the sixth last assessment day for the same delivery month.
For example, Platts publishes JKM balance month-next day April derivatives assessment from Feb. 16, 2024 to March 8, 2024.
This is against the previous assessment period which ran from the first assessment day for a delivery month to the third last assessment day for the same delivery month.
This change is in line with lower liquidity observed in the trading of balance month-next day derivatives during the last five assessment days for a delivery month.
Platts communicated the change Jan. 30, via a subscriber note here: https://www.spglobal.com/commodityinsights/en/our-methodology/subscriber-notes/013024-platts-to-change-publishing-schedule-for-platts-jkm-balance-month-next-day-derivatives-assessment, having reviewed market feedback received following the proposal Jan. 4, via a subscriber note here: https://www.spglobal.com/commodityinsights/en/our-methodology/subscriber-notes/010424-platts-proposes-change-in-publishing-timing-for-platts-jkm-balance-month-next-day-derivatives-assessment
