Following feedback on its proposal note published on December 22, 2015 to launch a new Capesize dry bulk freight assessment reflecting the trade route of metallurgical coal from East Australia to Rotterdam, Platts confirms that it will launch the new assessment effective March, 1, 2016.
This new assessment will reflect the growing spot fixture activity basis loading at Hay Point as European metallurgical coal consumers increase their requirements from East Coast Australia.
The assessment will be based on modern Capesize dry bulk tonnage reflecting the Hay Point, East Australia to Rotterdam, Northwest Europe route for a Capesize vessel carrying a metallurgical coal cargo of 160,000 mt. This assessment will be published on a dollar per metric ton basis.
