S&P Global Platts has launched Group 3 suboctane (V grade) gasoline supplemental assessments, effective Feb. 28, to reflect continued spot market activity of winter-grade suboctane observed during the first few weeks of the spring RVP transition.
The assessment aims to fill market demand for such values during the largest RVP change of the year from 13.5 psi RVP to 8.5 psi RVP.
Platts first proposed the launch of these assessments on Jan. 20: https://www.spglobal.com/platts/en/our-methodology/subscriber-notes/012022-methodology-platts-proposes-group-3-suboctane-supplemental-assessments.
Supplemental outright and differential assessments for Group 3 suboctane (V grade) will reflect 13.5 psi RVP product and will run concurrently with the 8.5 psi RVP main assessment for two weeks.
In 2022, the main Group 3 suboctane assessment will shift to 8.5 psi RVP on Feb. 28 based on the Magellan Pipeline schedule. The supplemental assessment will run Feb. 28 to March 15 at 13.5 psi RVP.
