Chemicals, Polymers
February 26, 2024
Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, will launch Nylon-6 (chemically known as Polyamide-6) and Nylon-66 (chemically known as Polyamide-66) assessments across Asia and the US effective April 1 and in Europe effective April 2.
Also, Platts has decided to start the coverage of nylon intermediates market announced in a separate methodology subscriber note.
The new assessments will expand Platts coverage on polymers, as well as better serve the growing fibers and engineering industry.
Details of the global Nylon-66 assessments are as follows:
Basis and location | Laycan | Cargo size | UOM | Product specifications | Symbols | Timestamp |
FOB China | Loading 20-40 days forward | 100-300 mt | $/mt | Engineering grade resin, with a viscosity of 2.4-2.7 g/ml | CN66A00 | 1630 Singapore time |
Ex-works US Southeast | Loading 10-30 days forward | 20-24 mt | USD/lb | Engineering grade resin, with a viscosity of 2.33-2.67 g/ml, melting temperature at 262°C | CN66U01 | 1330 US Central time |
DDP Northwest Europe | Delivered 3 to 30 days forward | 20-24 mt | Eur/mt | Engineering grade resin with a viscosity of 2.7g/ml | CN66E01 | 1630 London time |
* "Resin" and "chips" are used interchangeably.
Platts originally proposed to assess black Nylon-66 in Europe. However, following market feedback, Platts decided to assess mainstream non-black color engineering grade instead.
Details of the global Nylon-6 assessments are as follows:
Basis and location | Laycan | Cargo size | UOM | Product specifications: | Symbols | Timestamp |
FOB China | Loading 20-40 days forward | 200-500 mt | $/mt | Bright textile grade resin with a viscosity of 2.4-2.7 g/ml | CPA6A01
FOB China | Loading 20-40 days forward | 200-500 mt | $/mt | Semi-dull textile grade resin with a viscosity of 2.4-2.7 g/ml | CPA6A02
FOB China | Loading 20-40 days forward | 200-500 mt | $/mt | Full-dull textile grade resin with a viscosity of 2.4-2.7 g/ml | CPA6A03
Ex-works US Southeast | Loading 10-30 days forward | 20-24 mt | USD/lb | Resin with a viscosity of 2.65-2.7 g/ml, melting temperature at 220°C | CPA6U01 | 1330 US Central time |
