Following industry consultation, S&P Globla Platts will launch three FOB assessments for US physical thermal coal on April 6, 2018. The new assessments will be published on a weekly basis on Fridays in Global Coal Alert Page 360, Coal Trader and Coal Trader International.
The assessments will be based on trades, bids and offers heard in the market as well as indications of value from market participants.
The assessments will be in $/mt with the following specifications:
FOB Baltimore, 6,944 kcal/kg NAR, 2.6% sulfur; CUAAA04 FOB Hampton Roads, 6,667 kcal/kg NAR, 1% sulfur; CUABA04 FOB Gulf Coast, 6,111 kcal/kg NAR, 2.9% sulfur; CUACA04
Platts will also launch additional assessments normalizing each of the products to 6,000 kcal/kg NAR. Monthly and quarterly averages will also be available for all assessments.
