S&P Global Platts will discontinue four US NGL assessments – FOB River natural gasoline, LST isobutane, Bushton propane, non-LST ethane/propane mix month 2 assessments and related monthly averages – effective May 1, 2020.
This follows a proposal note published on February 3, which can be found here: https://www.spglobal.com/platts/en/our-methodology/subscriber-notes/020320-platts-proposes-to-discontinue-four-us-ngl-assessments.
Platts understands that spot trading activity is limited in these locations, with volumes largely term-contracted. Market changes have also minimized the use of e/p mix among petrochemical producers, with some activity seen in the prompt month but very little further down the curve.
Platts will continue to assess NGLs at other Mont Belvieu, Texas, and Conway, Kansas, locations.
The discontinuations will affect assessments for prompt natural gasoline barges on the Mississippi River in Louisiana, isobutane at the Lone Star NGL storage and fractionation facility in Mont Belvieu, propane in Bushton, Kansas, and month 2 e/p mix – made up of 80% ethane and 20% propane – at the Enterprise facility in Mont Belvieu.
The relevant codes are as follows:
These prices appear on Platts Global Alert pages 780 and in US Marketscan, LPGasWire and Oilgram Price Report.
