Platts proposes to launch daily US bisphenol-A and polycarbonate spot assessments

Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, proposes to launch new daily US East Coast bisphenol-A and US Gulf Coast polycarbonate price assessments, effective April, 1, 2024.

Under this proposal, Platts would start assessing these products daily, while providing a weekly commentary on Tuesdays to complement Platts' existing phenolics assessments.

All market information reported to Platts may be considered and will be published in real-time, including firm bids and offers, trades, and indicative values. Pricing information for material with other specifications and terms may be normalized accordingly.

Other market information deemed relevant and significant may be considered and weighed into the assessment process.

In the absence of spot market indications, the ex-tank East China BPA assessment (CBPAA02) may be taken as a reference for net-forward calculation to the US BPA assessment . The net-forward calculation, if used, would factor the following Platts container freight assessment: North Asia-East Coast North America (PCR0500).

For polycarbonate, in the absence of spot market indications, Platts may assess on a netback calculation from the CFR China extrusion grade Polycarbonate assessment (CPCXA00), and the CFR China general purpose molding grade Polycarbonate assessment (CPCXA01) while factoring container freight rate on the East Coast North America-North Asia route (PCR0600).
