SUBSCRIBER NOTE: Platts requests feedback on Chicago Argo ethanol nominations

S&P Global Platts is requesting feedback on the current nomination process in the Platts Market on Close assessment process for Chicago Argo ethanol.

This feedback period follows news from Kinder Morgan that truck deliveries to Argo will be redirected to the company's Stony Island, Illinois, facility.

Currently, the MOC process reflects inter-tank transfers at Argo. However, under Kinder Morgan's Fuel Grade Ethanol Fungible System, ethanol traded in the window could physically be at either the Argo or Stony Island location.

This has led to concern that sellers could learn that their product is in the Stony Island facility rather than Argo and necessitate a Stony Island nomination in the MOC. This has resulted in a potential situation where a buyer rejects a trade because the Stony Island facility reduces optionality.

Platts welcomes feedback on standard industry trading practices under Kinder Morgan's fungible system as well as nomination of barrels traded in the MOC.

Platts welcomes all feedback and questions on the proposed assessment through to February 17, 2017. Please send all questions and feedback to america_ags@spglobal.com with CC to pricemethodology@spglobal.com.
