SUBSCRIBER NOTE: Platts launches FOB Richards Bay 6,000 kcal/kg NAR thermal coal netback

On February 13, 2017, S&P Global Platts launched the FOB Richards Bay 6,000 kcal/kg NAR thermal coal netback calculation.

The formula for the netback is as follows: CFR India West Panamax 5,500 kcal/kg NAR 30-60 day [CIWCI00] minus freight rate Richards Bay to India West Panamax [CSAKL00] The price will be adjusted to reflect ash content of 14% and calorific value of 6,000 kcal/kg NAR.

The symbol for the FOB Richards Bay 6,000 kcal/kg NAR thermal coal netback is CSEUW00. This price assessment will be published daily in the Coal Trader International and will be available on Platts Coal Alert page GC0230 and in Market Data category CI.

The thermal coal basis 6,000 kcal/kg NAR price for physical coal loaded from Richards Bay, South Africa -- with the associated forward curve -- and 6,000 kcal/kg NAR thermal coal delivered into India has been discontinued with effect from February 13, 2017.
