SUBSCRIBER NOTE: Platts will re-name Platts Low Vol 12 Ash PCI to Mid Tier PCI

Following a period of Industry Feedback, Platts will re-name Platts Low Vol 12 Ash PCI to Mid Tier PCI

This change comes in response to industry feedback that the current name appears as too restrictive in terms of the specifications that are included in price formation. The assessments -- Platts Low Vol 12 Ash PCI assessments (MCLAA00, MCLAC00, MCVAI00) -- should reflect not only coals with low volatile matter and high ash, but also mid-vol, lower ash coals.

For this reason, the new name -- Mid Tier PCI -- could be more inclusive. The renaming of the assessments would start from April 1, 2015.
