Following industry feedback, Platts will relaunch a supplemental assessment in 2016 for US Gulf Coast Premium CBOB (also known as D grade) gasoline.
The supplemental assessment will reflect gasoline moving on the prompt cycle on the Colonial Pipeline with input at Pasadena, Texas, with an RVP of 7.8, and will start on or about the time of publication of other US Gulf Coast gasoline supplementals later this year.
Platts decision to relaunch this assessment follows indications from industry participants that they expect demand to ship both 9.0 RVP (D2) and 7.8 RVP (D1) CBOB on the pipeline.
The supplemental USGC Premium CBOB assessment was previously published in the Platts assessment database under code AASOC00. Platts will resume use of this code for the relaunched assessment.
At the same time, the main US Gulf Coast Premium CBOB assessment (data code AARQV00) will reflect 9.0 RVP product (D2) throughout the summer.
In 2013, Platts started the process of discontinuing both the main and supplemental USGC Premium CBOB assessments after Colonial stopped regular shipments of the grade. Market demand and subsequent changes to regulations in the state of Georgia and other markets have boosted demand for it, prompting the relaunch of the main assessment in October 2015.
The relaunched supplemental assessment will be published in Platts US Marketscan, Oilgram Price Report and Platts Global Alert page 332. Please send any comments or questions to americas_products@platts.com and pricegroup@platts.com.
