Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, is proposing to launch daily production cost-based high-purity ethylene oxide prices for Asia and the US, effective April 1.
The proposed assessments would build on recently launched DDP Northwest Europe ethylene oxide spot assessments.
The assessments would be published in $/mt and follow the regional publishing schedules.
Details of the proposed assessments are as follows:
Asia | US | |
Basis and locations | FOB Northeast Asia: Korea, Taiwan, Japan, China | DAP USG |
Laycan | Loading 15-30 days forward | Current month |
Credit terms | Terms of payment should reflect standard credit terms as per market practice. | Standard market terms |
Cargo size | 1000 mt | Minimum 3000 mt |
Product Specifications | Minimum purity of 99.9% by weight, maximum water content of 70 ppm and maximum aldehydes of 40 ppm | Minimum purity of 99.9%, maximum water content of 100 ppm, maximum aldehydes content of 40 ppm |
The proposed assessments align with the assumptions of Platts' analytics formula and represents the cost of production for HPEO.
The proposed Asia and the US assessments comprise of Platts daily CFR NE Asia ethylene (AAOTM00) assessment and daily FD Mont Belvieu Month 01 ethylene (AAOSR00) assessment, respectively, and a combination of other fixed and variable costs as determined by each region.
The variable and fixed inputs will be reviewed as needed to ensure they are representative of current market dynamics.
