Platts changes volume range for Butane FOB West Med Coaster assessment

Following market feedback, S&P Global Platts has amended its Butane FOB West Med Coaster (PMAAM00) assessment to reflect a volume range of 4,000 mt to 6,000 mt, effective February 3, 2020.

The assessment previously included full or part-cargoes of at least 1,600 mt that were normalized to a 4,000 mt basis.

Platts has observed that typical parcels trading in this market are at or above 4,000 mt, and has received feedback that the current parcel sizes reflected in the assessment are no longer the most fungible.

Following this decision, only trades for parcels within the 4,000 mt to 6,000 mt range are reflected in the assessment. The basis size of 4,000 mt has remained unchanged, with trades for larger sizes normalized to that basis for assessment purposes.

This decision follows a period of industry feedback. This decision was announced in a note published January 10: https://www.spglobal.com/platts/en/our-methodology/subscriber-notes/011020-platts-to-change-volume-range-for-butane-fob-west-med-coaster-assessment
