SUBSCRIBER NOTE: Platts proposes to extend forward curve for Asian styrene

Platts is seeking feedback on a proposal to expand its Asian styrene monomer assessments with one additional laycan for FOB Korea and two laycans for CFR China, reflecting more forward trading in the market, effective June 30, 2016.

Currently, daily assessments FOB Korea evaluate cargoes for loading in second, third, fourth and fifth half-month forward cycles. Each half-month assessment cycle covers 15 or 16 days. For example, on March 1, 2016, the half-month cycles assessed would be H2 March, H1 April, H2 April and H1 May.

Daily assessments CFR China evaluate cargoes for delivery in second, third and fourth half-month forward cycles.

Platts proposes to extend FOB Korea to include a sixth half-month cycle, and to extend CFR China to include a fifth and and sixth half-month cycle.

The assessments are intended to be published daily on Platts Petrochemical Alert on PCA 215, PCA 340, PCA 414, weekly in the Platts Polymerscan, Platts Asian Petrochemical Scan and in the Platts database.
