Platts updates Mexico natural gas transportation rates

Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, has performed its quarterly update to the natural gas transportation rates used in the calculation of the Mexico daily natural gas prices.

Platts updated the recently launched transportation rates methodology found here.

Platts has adopted pipeline transportation rates as of Feb. 1. This includes fixed and variable transportation costs for the routes, the February 2024 bidweek price for the Tennessee, zone 0, Waha, and Socal Gas source locations, and the Jan. 31, 2024, Mexican Peso to US Dollar spot exchange rate.

This update also includes the latest SISTRANGAS rates as of Dec. 14, 2023, under authorization RES/1811/2023 for the period from Jan. 1-Dec. 31, 2024.

As part of the update, Platts has changed the methodology for Tula. The location description is as follows: Deliveries from the Sistrangas pipeline system to Tula; includes transportation rates on Tennessee Gas Pipeline and Sistrangas Zone 3-Zone 5.
