SUBSCRIBER NOTE: Platts amends US, Latin American steel methodology

S&P Global Platts has changed the frequency of certain US and Latin American steel assessments, effective from Friday, February 1, 2019.

Platts has increased the frequency of Brazilian domestic HDG and CRC assessments from monthly to weekly, while Platts has reduced the frequency of its US domestic and import rebar assessments from daily to weekly. Furthermore, Platts has moved the assessment day of Rebar / Ex-mill US Midwest from Monday to Friday.

All changes have been made effective Friday, February 1, 2019.

These changes followed a period of market consultation that started November 27, 2018. Platts has made the changes as a result of changing market dynamics involving the respective products and positive feedback on the proposal initially published on November 27, 2018.

Details of the assessments set for the frequency increases are as follows:

HDG Brazil Dom Prod Ex-Works Excl Taxes, BRL/ton - code SB01117 CRC Brazil Dom Prod Ex-Works Excl Taxes, BRL/ton - code SB01080

Details of the assessments set for frequency reductions are as follows:

Rebar / US domestic EXW US Southeast, $/st - code STCBC00 Rebar / DDP Houston, $/st - code STCBG00

Furthermore, Platts has moved the assessment day of Rebar / Ex-mill US Midwest from Monday to Friday, to align with other US weekly rebar assessments.

Rebar / N. America domestic Ex-mill US Midwest, $/st - code SB01202

The last monthly assessment day for HDG Brazil and CRC Brazil was January 2, 2019. The first weekly assessment of HDG Brazil and CRC Brazil was February 1, 2019. The last daily assessment for US domestic rebar EXW Southeast and US rebar DDP Houston was January 25, 2019. The first weekly assessment of all three US rebar prices was February 1, 2019.
