Updated 2012 netbacks for Asia, Middle East assessments

Please note that Platts has updated three key base rates used to create its Asia and Middle East refined oil product netbacks, following amendments to two base freight rates and a port charge for 2012.

The Worldscale flat basis rate used to calculate C+F Australia unleaded gasoline, jet and gasoil assessments will be updated to $21.31/mt, superseding the $21.39/mt stated in Platts previously published noticed on 2012 netbacks.

The basis rate used to calculate Platts CFR Japan 180 CST fuel oil will be $15.20/mt, compared to $15.29/mt used for January 2012.

Finally, Platts has amended the port charge applied for Jebel Ali to 83 cents/mt, which in turn means that the flat basis rate used to calculate FOB Arab Gulf unleaded gasoline $15.40/mt, compared to $15.25/mt used for January 2012.

All other base rates remain unchanged from guidance published by Platts on December 22, 2011.

The actual freight applied to derive the netback or C+F assessments fluctuates daily based on changes in Platts Dirty Tanker Wire and Clean Tanker Wire, applied against the respective 2012 flat rates. Routes used in all calculations are unchanged from 2011.
