S&P Global Platts has discontinued its weekly 553-grade 98.5% silicon metal assessment. Platts publishes FOB China silicon metal assessment, which is the main reference pricing point for silicon metal trades in Asia. As Japan imports almost all 553-grade 98.5% silicon metal spot requirement from China, and China is expected to remain as Japan's dominant supply source, CIF Japan and FOB China assessments represent the same market segment. Silicon metal FOB China assessment will continue to be published. Please send any feedback to Mayumi Watanabe, mayumi.watanabe@spglobal.com and pricemethodology@spglobal.com. For written comments, please provide a clear indication if comments are not intended for publication by Platts for public viewing. Platts will consider all comments received and will make comments not marked as confidential available upon request.
