Following its subscriber note of December 11, 2012, Platts comfirms that it will begin an assessment for the value of marine gasoil at South Africa's port of Durban with effect from February 1, 2013. The new MGO assessment will be published alongside the existing Platts assessments for MDO and 180CST bunker fuel in Durban and will be assessed on an ex-wharf basis. Platts' new marine gasoil assessment will reflect typical standards as defined by the International Organization for Standardization in document ISO 8217:2005. New ISO standards issued in 2010 and 2012 have not yet become commonly reflected in most bunker supplies around the world. Platts continues to review traded specifications. The new assessment will be found on Platts Global Alert page 1860, in Platts Bunkerwire, and in the Platts price assessment database under the code of AAXDB00 Marine Gasoil Ex-Wharf Durban. Platts will also begin publishing the monthly average for the new assessment on Platts Global Alert page 1861 assessment and under the product code of AAXDB03 Marine Gasoil Ex-Wharf Durban MAvg. Please send any further feedback, comments or queries to europe_products@platts.com and pricegroup@platts.com.
