Platts clarifies vessel size reflected in Atlantic and Pacific LNG day rates

S&P Global Platts would like to clarify that it reflects Tri Fuel Diesel Engine (TFDE) LNG vessels of between 155,000 cu m and 180,000 cu m in its daily hire rates in both the Atlantic and Pacific basin, but may normalize any indications to a 160,000 cu m standard in line with the bulk of the LNG fleet.

Platts understands that the majority of TFDE fixtures in both the Atlantic and Pacific spot markets are done on a standard vessel size of around 160,000 cu m. Platts LNG day rate assessments reflect the daily hire rate for short-term hires loading 25 to 45 days forward from the date of the assessment. Platts does not reflect steam and 2-stroke vessels in its LNG day rate assessments.
