S&P Global Platts is proposing to launch three FOB assessments for US physical thermal coal in April 2018 to publish on a weekly basis in Coal Trader and Coal Trader International.
The assessments would be based on trades, bids and offers heard in the market as well as indications of value from market participants.
The proposed assessments would be in $/mt with the following specifications: - FOB Baltimore, 6,944 kcal/kg NAR, 2.6% sulfur - FOB Hampton Roads, 6,667 kcal/kg NAR, 1% sulfur - FOB Gulf Coast, 6,111 kcal/kg NAR, 2.9% sulfur
Platts is also proposing to launch additional assessments which would normalize each of the products to 6,000 kcal/kg NAR. Monthly and quarterly averages would also be available for all assessments.
