Platts discontinues methanol CFR India freight netback price from Jan 16

Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, has discontinued publishing the weekly methanol CFR India freight netback assessment, effective Jan. 16, on its increasingly limited representation of the spot market.

The price represented a net forward from FOB Middle East value, which, in turn, was calculated as a netback from CFR China.

Platts first proposed discontinuing the methanol CFR India netback assessment in a subscriber note published Oct. 19:

The assessment has been removed from the Asian Petrochemicalscan, Platts Dimensions Pro and Platts Market Center (PCA0348, PCA0412 and PCA0449) and under the following price database codes:

The Indian methanol market has been trading independently on an outright basis.

Platts continues publishing its daily methanol CFR India assessment (MLCFI00) to reflect spot cargoes for methanol delivered into India.
