SUBSCRIBER NOTE: Platts to amend European naphtha mt to gallons conversion factor

S&P Global Platts proposes to amend the conversion factor used for its European naphtha assessments to convert from USD per metric ton to cents per gallon to 3.74 from the current 3.78, effective March 1, 2018.

Platts is proposing to make this change to ensure consistent conversions across locations and specifications. Platts uses a conversion factor of 8.9 to convert from mt to barrels for its European naphtha assessments, in line with the density reflected in those assessments.

The change will affect the following naphtha assessments:

CIF NWE cargo Rotterdam FOB barge FOB Med cargo CIF Genoa cargo

Conversions for these assessments into cents/gallons are published on Platts Petrochemical Alert page 202.
