Platts has launched a refined NWE hexane methodology that sets a minimum n-hexane content specification of 45% and to remove the maximum content, currently set at 60% in European hexane methodology.
In addition, Platts has also set a maximum benzene content of 50 ppm and a maximum sulphur content of 200 ppm.
Previously, the Platts European hexane methodology stated that traded volume specifications should adhere to a minimum C6 (hexane, isomers, and methyl-cyclopentane) content of 98%. Product should have a maximum n-hexane content of 60%. Minimum boiling temperature of 65-70 degrees Celsius for food grade, 60-95 degrees for adhesive grades.
