Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, is postponing the change in publication day for its European sugar assessments.
Platts previously communicated that it would move publication of its weekly Germany delivered (SGAEG04), weekly UK delivered (SGAEF04) and North Italy delivered (SGAEL04) sugar prices to a Thursday market on close, rather than Friday, effective Feb. 1.
Platts will now continue to publish these assessments on Fridays after Feb. 1.
All other previously announced changes to Platts' sugar coverage will go ahead on Feb. 1, with details in a decision note available here: https://www.spglobal.com/commodityinsights/en/our-methodology/subscriber-notes/121823-platts-decides-to-amend-ddp-germany-sugar-assessment
In particular, the DDP Germany sugar assessment will be updated to reflect ExWorks Northwest Europe, with the assessment reflecting sugar from Germany, France, the Netherlands and Belgium, often referred to as the "beet belt". The name of the assessment will reflect the new basis: EXW Northwest Europe.
Platts will also update the quantity reference to reflect basis bulk sugar, considering 1,000 mt to 5,000 mt. Other volumes can be considered and may be normalized back to the reference volume range.
Platts will also publish a weekly European sugar commentary on Fridays, in addition to Brazilian and Asian sugar commentaries on Thursdays, after Feb. 1.
