Platts discontinues FOB Santos-NYH ethanol assessments

S&P Global Platts has discontinued its FOB Santos, Brazil, delivered to New York Harbor ethanol assessments, effective Jan. 4, 2021.

This discontinuation follows a subscriber note announcing the decision, published Oct. 8, 2020, and a proposal subscriber note published Sept. 9.

Platts understands traders no longer track the Santos-NYH ethanol arbitrage as product typically moves from Brazil into California, with smaller volumes flowing into Florida.

The affected assessments are:

AAXNO00 – Anhydrous ethanol spot FOB Santos direct to NYH FOB inc D5 RIN ($/gal)

AAXNP00 - Anhydrous ethanol spot FOB Santos direct to NYH FOB inc D5 RIN ($/cu m).

The assessments appeared on Platts Biofuels Alert (PBF) page 226, in the Biofuelscan, and in the Platts price database under the codes above.

Platts will continue to publish its anhydrous, hydrous, and Grade B FOB Santos ethanol assessments.
