Effective Monday, January 4, 2016, Platts has aligned certain parameters in its FOB ARA 50 ppm gasoil barge methodology with diesel and 0.1% gasoil barges.
The announcement follows a proposal note published July 24, 2015, and a decision note published September 21.
Platts assesses barges with operational tolerance corresponding to up to 5% of the transacted volume. Previously, Platts did not include any operational tolerance in its FOB ARA 50 ppm gasoil barge assessment.
Like in diesel and 0.1% gasoil, for floating bids and offers the operational tolerance of the barge prices at the mean of the subsequent three assessments published by Platts after bill of lading, at the same differential as the main volume.
Bids, offers and trades in Flushing and Ghent are included for consideration in Platts assessments, with the basis of the assessment remaining Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Antwerp. Under previous methodology, Platts did not reflect bids, offers and transactions in Flushing and Ghent.
Finally, Platts assesses barges loading 3-15 days forward on Monday and Tuesday, and 5-15 days forward on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Previously, Platts assessed barges loading 5-15 days forward on every day of the week.
