S&P Global Platts proposes to update its dried distillers grains with solubles assessment dates and rolling periods, effective March 6, 2017, following market feedback.
The change would impact the CIF New Orleans DDGS barge assessment and FOB Chicago DDGS truck assessment delivered to the Channahon, Illinois, rail head.
This proposal follows an initial proposal note published November 3, 2016, and a feedback extension published November 17, 2016.
Platts proposes to assess DDGS trucks delivered to the Channahon, Illinois, rail head on a calendar month basis, where previously Platts was assessing delivery 1-7 days ahead of publication. Platts proposes to assess delivery in the current month until the 21st of that month, when the assessment would roll to delivery over the next calendar month. If the 21st day of the current month should fall on a public holiday or weekend, the roll to next month will take place on the business day immediately after the 21st day of the month.
For the CIF NOLA barge assessment, Platts will continue to assess delivery in New Orleans on a barge that has loaded over any period in the current month from date of publication. Platts proposes to roll to assess delivery from barges that have loaded over the next calendar month on the 25th of the current month. If the 25th day of the current month should fall on a public holiday or weekend, the roll to next month will take place on the business day immediately after the 21st day of the month.
The daily assessments impacted by this proposal are: CIF New Orleans barge, Platts code: AADDG00; FOB Chicago truck, Platts code: ACDDG00. Both daily assessed values appear in the Platts Biofuelscan, Weekly Global Ethanol Report and on the Platts Biofuels Alert real time system page 501.
The proposal will also impact the weekly and monthly averages: CIF New Orleans barge weekly average: AADDG04 FOB Chicago truck weekly average: ACDDG04 CIF New Orleans barge monthly average: AADDG03 FOB Chicago truck monthly average: ACDDG03
Platts welcomes all feedback and questions on the proposed assessment through to January 30, 2017. Please send all questions and feedback to america_ags@spglobal.com with CC to pricemethodology@spglobal.com.
