SUBSCRIBER NOTE: Platts discontinues publication of NSSC ferrochrome price

S&P Global Platts has discontinued publication of Japan's Nippon Steel & Sumikin Stainless Steel Corp (NSSC) quarterly ferrochrome price (symbol code: MMAEV00) on January 3, 2017. The price will no longer be published in Platts Metals Daily, Platts Metals Alert and Platts Metals Week. This follows a proposal note dated June 7, 2016. The quarterly price is no longer provided as an outright price value, nor are specifications of the contract settlement. Additionally, feedback from the market has indicated that the NSSC price is not reflective of the majority of contract values. Platts publishes several spot ferrochrome assessments for Asian markets, including 60%-65% high carbon spot CIF Japan, Charge Chrome 48-52% CIF China and 58%-60% High Carbon CIF China. Platts seeks transparent information to underpin its spot market price assessments and quarterly contract settlement values.
