Crude Oil
January 02, 2025
Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, has amended the conversion factor for several CFR North Asia crude assessments effective Jan. 2, 2025.
The amendments reflect the prevailing qualities of these grades based on the most recent assays available. The conversion factor for barrels to metric tonnes applied for these grades is used in the freight calculation.
The affected assessments, their amended conversion factors, updated API gravity, and their corresponding price database codes are as follows:
Grade | Conversion factor | API gravity | Code | Mavg code |
Oman | 7.32 | 33.2 | PCAQJ00 | PCAQJ03 |
Upper Zakum | 7.32 | 33.2 | PCAQB00 | PCAQB03 |
Qatar Marine | 7.23 | 31.2 | PCAQC00 | PCAQC03 |
Murban | 7.62 | 40 | PCAQE00 | PCAQE03 |
These assessments appear on Platts Global Alert, Platts Crude Oil Alert pages 2202 and 2203, Platts Crude Oil Marketwire and Platts Oilgram Price Report.
Platts will continue to periodically review the qualities and conversion factors of the 11 crude grades for which it publishes CFR North Asia assessments to ensure they reflect prevailing qualities.
