Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, has launched daily assessments for Netherlands renewable energy units (HBEs).
Platts has observed a growing interest in renewable certificate markets across Europe in conjunction with the rise in biofuels demand and carbon offsetting schemes.
Platts will assess four different unit types for Netherlands HBEs:
HBE-conventional (HBE-C)
HBE-advanced (HBE-A)
HBE-other (HBE-O)
HBE-Annex IXB (HBE-B)
Platts will launch eight new daily assessment symbols as follows:
ANLDA00 HBE-Advanced (Current Year)
ANLDE00 HBE-Advanced (Previous Year)
ANLDC00 HBE-Conventional (Current Year)
ANLDG00 HBE-Conventional (Previous Year)
ANLDB00 HBE-Annex IX B (Current Year)
ANLDF00 HBE-Annex IX B (Previous Year)
ANLDD00 HBE-Other (Current Year)
ANLDH00 HBE-Other (Previous Year)
The assessments are published daily to a 1630 London time market close in Euros per Gigajoule.
Platts will assess a current year vintage from the first to the last working day of the calendar year.
Platts will also assess a previous year vintage from the first working day of January until obligation deadline on the last working day of April.
For example, the 2024 obligation year will be assessed as current obligation starting on the first working day of January 2024 until the last working day of December 2024.
On the first working day of January 2025, it will roll into the previous obligation period, until expiry on May 1, 2025.
The 2025 vintage would be assessed as the current year from the first working day of January.
The seller would be obligated to transfer the credits to the buyer by the last working day of April of the next year.
The assessment reflects a minimum unit of 50,000 GJ. Lower volumes would be considered and may be normalized to the minimum specification level.
Daily price assessments will be published on PBF1010 and PBF1014 fixed pages. Monthly average assessments will be published in PBF1012 and PBF1015.
Platts continues to invite feedback on UK Renewable Transport Fuel Certificates and German Treibhausgasquoten markets.
