S&P Global Platts has launched daily assessments for Murban crude cargoes loading three and four months forward from the date of assessment, effective January 2, 2019.
These assessments are in addition to the existing Murban cash assessment, under code AAKNL00, which reflects oil for loading two months forward. As part of this launch, Platts has amended the description of the existing Murban assessment (AAKNL00) in its price database to "Murban FOB Abu Dhabi Spore Mo01" from the previous "Murban FOB Abu Dhabi Spore". The description of the monthly average of the existing Murban assessment (AAKNM00) has also been amended to "Murban FOB Abu Dhabi Spore Mo01 MAvg" from the previous "Murban FOB Abu Dhabi Spore MAvg".
Platts first proposed to launch Murban M2 and M3 cash assessments in a subscriber note published on October 10, 2018: https://www.spglobal.com/platts/en/our-methodology/subscriber-notes/101018-su bscriber-note-correction-platts-proposes-launching-murban-cash-m2-and-m3-asses sments
The new assessments for cargoes loading three and four months forward are labeled "Murban FOB Abu Dhabi Spore Mo02" (MBNSA00) and "Murban FOB Abu Dhabi Spore Mo03" (MBNSB00) respectively.
Platts Murban assessments can be found on Platts Global Alert pages PGA 2210, PGA 2220, PGA 2221, PGA 2222 and PGA 2223, as well as Crude Oil Marketwire, Oilgram Price Report, and the Platts Price Average Supplement. Further details for these new assessments can be found below.
The new assessments will capture the outright value of Murban crude loading three months and four months ahead in line with Platts assessments for benchmark Dubai and Oman crudes. Platts assessments of Dubai and Oman crude reflect additional delivery of Murban crude where the buyer agrees to pay the seller a quality premium.
