Platts launches two new thermal coal assessments

Platts, a division of McGraw-Hill Financial, Inc., and Shanxi Fenwei Energy Consulting Co., LTD, are jointly launching two thermal coal price assessments in China. The new coal assessments: are China Coal Indexes (CCI 1 and CCI 8). The CCI assessments are designed to reflect daily tradeable values of thermal coal in Chinese spot markets. CCI 1 is the domestic marker of value for coals normalized to a typical standard of 5500 kcal/kg NAR, traded FOB Qinhuangdao (QHD) in RMB/mt including VAT, for delivery also to the PRC. CCI 8 is an international marker of value representing coals of a similar standard to CCI 1, traded CFR South China in US$/mt from any origin (excluding PRC).
