Discovery 170 km east of Aberdeen
Analysis to confirm whether it's commercially viable
London — France's Total made a new gas and condensates discovery in the central North Sea offshore the UK, about 170 km (105 miles) east of Aberdeen, the energy company said in a statement Tuesday.
The well was drilled in a water depth of about 80 meters and encountered 64 meters net pay of lean gas and condensate, as well as high-quality light oil. The analysis of the data and results are ongoing to assess the resources and to confirm whether the discovery is commercially viable.
Other partners working alongside Total at the field are Neptune Energy that has a 50% interest, with Ithaca Energy and Euroil Exploration, a wholly owned subsidiary of Edison, owning 10% each.
