EAF, hot rolling mill to restart later this week

About 130 employees recalled to mill

Pittsburgh — JSW Steel USA is restarting its electric arc furnace, or EAF, and hot rolling mill at Mingo Junction in Ohio in the week of June 15, after the operations were temporarily idled in mid-April as the company completed planned capital projects, JSW Steel USA Ohio chief operating officer Mike Panzeri said in a business update.

About 130 employees are being recalled for the startup, Panzeri said.

"Since March 23, 2020, the company has carefully and methodically laid off employees while keeping employees with core skills employed to focus on the projects we have started at the Mingo Junction facility," Panzeri said.

"These investments in the EAF and hot strip mill will modernize the equipment and will enable the plant to better service our customers."

The company will continue its practice of strict cleaning throughout common areas, social distancing and thermal imaging temperature checks for all entrants of the facility, he added.
