Russia and Saudi Arabia have been deepening ties ever since forming a closer alliance as part of the OPEC+ production cut agreement that began in 2016. Saudi Arabia continues to carry the greater burden in each deal.
Russia has again been typically tight-lipped going into the March meeting, but energy minister Alexander Novak has maintained that it is satisfied with the cooperation arrangements.
