Lead Crude Oil Markets Analyst I Europe, CIS and Africa
Payam's expertise in the global oil market, includes downstream price dynamics, political and regulatory influences, and economic trends. Payam is a regular contributor to the global crude oil market service, for which he provides market analysis on supply and demand fundamentals and key trends in the global oil industry for monthly reports and spotlights. He works closely with the Fuels and Refining team and is responsible for the European refined product market pricing, and regularly represents the firm in presentations and webinars covering crude oil and refined products markets.Payam started his career in the commodity markets over a decade ago as an analyst responsible for market analysis, shipping and trade operations at a Swiss-based physical trading company focusing on West African, European crude, and products trading. Before joining S&P Global, Payam worked as a trade analyst focusing on the Middle East crude and products market. He has worked closely with national oil companies and major commodity trading companies, working on all aspects of physical trade (analysis, trade finance, operations, and business development). Payam holds a BSc in Mathematics from the University of Leeds and an MSc in Business Management from BPP Business School in London.

Layla Mahmood is a technical sales engineer at IHS Markit, specializing in rate transient analysis and specialized data analysis. Ms. Mahmood works directly with current and prospective clients, delivering value-driven presentations and case studies of engineering workflows and theory. She holds a Bachelor of Engineering (hons) in petroleum engineering from the University of Portsmouth.

Technical Research Associate Director
Cyril is a technical research associate director for the Africa Upstream Intelligence team at S&P Global Energy . He is responsible for the Botswana, Zimbabwe and Egypt editorial and data content of GEPS. Prior to starting at S&P Global Energy in 2009, Cyril worked as a finance associate for engineering and commodity trade companies.
Cyril holds a PhD in Geology and a MSc in Business Management from the University of Geneva, Switzerland. Cyril is based in Geneva.

Senior Upstream Legal Analyst
Emike is an Upstream Legal Analyst in the Petroleum Economics and Policy Solutions (PEPS) team, part of the S&P Global Energy E&P Terms and Above-Ground Risk division. Based in London, Emike monitors legal and regulatory developments relevant to the upstream industry in Sub-Saharan Africa and is responsible for PEPS legal reports on countries in the region. She also assists with consulting projects requiring expertise in regional upstream legal and regulatory regimes.
Before joining S&P Global Energy in 2018, Emike worked in Contract Management with Schlumberger in Scotland and Nigeria, and with Avsco Houston and several other oilfield service companies in Nigeria. She holds a law degree from the Ambrose Alli University in Edo, Nigeria, and a Master of Laws in petroleum law and policy from the Centre for Energy, Petroleum and Mineral Law and Policy at the University of Dundee in the United Kingdom.

Senior Research Analyst, Upstream Cost and Expenditures
Mr. Pillai is currently a Senior Research Analyst in S&P Global's Cost and Technology team. He is a lead analyst for the Upstream Operating Costs Service covering the wells market segment. He is responsible for the well services and materials market; researching and analyzing price movements which are influenced by productions costs and market activity worldwide. He also supports in cost estimation of specific upstream oil and gas service markets and generating quarterly price updates and long-term forecasts analysis. He has also published special papers on how technology will impact future development costs associated with unconventional well construction.
Prior to joining S&P Global, Mr. Pilai worked for oil and gas services company Schlumberger in Australia and West Texas, where he performed high value engineering consultancy within the well completions and production services. He has expert technical and operational knowledge in hydraulic fracturing in unconventional and conventional formations. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering from the University of Western Australia graduating with Honors in the Chemical and Process discipline.
